Dr. Mike A. Peters

University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine DVM 2007

From a young boy growing up on a horse farm, Dr. Peters' drive to learn and apply his skills has motived the course of his educational and professional journey. After two years as an associate veterinarian in 2009, he and his wife stepped out as young entrepreneurs to build Animal Clinic of Ava from the ground up. In 2016 they opened a satellite practice, Animal Clinic of Forsyth. He and his staff have hosted several educational conferences and events like goat and sheep workshops, small ruminant classes, Ozarks Farm Animal Workshop, Equine Wellness Clinics, dozens of Coggins Clinics, and many others along the way. Well versed in all species, Dr. Peters enjoys sharing his experiences and insight to students and groups.

  
Invaluable experience and wisdom was gained during many years as a solo practitioner of large and small animals. Today he sees specialty equine and large animal cases in addition to general practice patients.

Missouri Veterinary Medical Association

Union, MO

MVMA Fall Equine Dentistry Seminar and Wet Lab consisted of about 10 hours of lecture instruction and 8 hours of hands-on wet lab where examination and dental care were provided to rescue horses under the tips and guidance of  experienced equine veterinarians and the famous Dr. Rach, the inventor of the PowerFloat and accomplished equine veterinarian.

Advanced Equine Oral Dental Extraction Course - A two-day highly practical course with a panel of internationally renowned specialists who shared their tips over 7 hours of practical sessions training Dr. Peters and other equine veterinarians in oral examination & endoscopy, diagnostic imaging, and oral extractions for teeth.

International Bison Health Symposium

Dr. Peters attended this three day conference of bison health involving veterinarians, researchers, and academia; the first of its kind in 10 years. 

August 2022

Nebraska Equine Veterinary Clinic

Omaha, NE

Advances in Equine Podiatry was a two-day course that lectured on topics of foot examination, shoeing techniques, radiography use, foot casting, and applying wooden shoes; with 8 hours of wet lab participation applying their knowledge to a variety of live horses and limb specimens.
